General Outpatient Physiotherapy Services - Comox Valley Hospital

Who Should Access this Program:
- A referral is required (providers see below)
- Complex Patients who have multiple co-morbidities and a new functional decline; patients who are frail and/or deconditioned; patients with a new neurological condition; those with multiple fractures, and individuals with complex hip and knee arthroplasty, etc.
- Post-Operative Patients who have/had complex and/or multiple fractures; total or reverse total shoulder replacement; ankle replacements, etc.
- As of October 21st, 2024: All non-complex hip and knee arthroplasty patients will receive their post operative physiotherapy at a private clinic. This is to increase capacity in the hospital outpatient program for more complex cases who do not fit well in the private clinic model. Non-complex hip and knee arthroplasty patients will be given a Health Authority issued voucher to cover private clinic therapy.
- Functional goals have been attained
- A plateau in function has been reached
- Gains can be achieved with a home or community-based program
